Office Buzz 🐝

My most favorite time of the year is harvest. For me, it would even come before Christmas. Why, you might ask? There is just something about harvest that brings me joy.

I think it is the way that everyone comes together to get the job done. Family members are put on high alert, knowing they could be called upon at any moment to help. And when that time comes, there is no hesitation. You just know that you are needed, so you go. The yard is buzzing with activity—grain trucks coming and going, people milling about, meals being prepared and eaten in the field, and, of course, the excitement of combine rides.

Don’t get me wrong, harvest is a lot of work. There are some very long days, early mornings, and late nights. But there is also a deep satisfaction that comes with seeing a job well done.

Throughout the growing season, we have watched those tiny seeds sprout and turn the fields green. We have worried over them—wondering if there will be enough rain, or perhaps too much. We have watched the green slowly turn into beautiful golden yellow, knowing that the cycle is almost complete.

And then comes the time to reap what we have sown.

For me, that is what makes harvest so special. It is more than bringing in a crop. It is family, hard work, teamwork, tradition, and gratitude all coming together. It is the busy yard, the full grain trucks, the meals shared in the field, and the knowledge that everyone has played a part.

Harvest may bring long days and tired bodies, but it also brings a feeling of accomplishment and togetherness that is hard to describe. Perhaps that is why, for me, harvest will always be my favorite time of year—even before Christmas.
