Have you ever noticed how some of the greatest gifts in life don’t come wrapped in pretty paper or tied with a bow? Sometimes they arrive in a friendly phone call, a helping hand, or a neighbour stopping by for a visit.
God has blessed each of us with gifts, and not all of them are things we can hold in our hands. Some of us are good listeners, some can fix just about anything, some have a gift for cooking, and others simply know how to make someone smile.
We see these gifts being shared every day. A neighbour helping with harvest, someone delivering a casserole, or a gardener sharing an abundance of vegetables. Each of us have gifts to offer.
In 1 Peter 4:10, we are reminded to use whatever gifts we have received to serve others. Sometimes we think we need to do something big to make a difference. But God’s love often shows up in the smallest acts of kindness.
As we enjoy the beauty and abundance of God’s creation, may we remember that what we have been given is not just for ourselves. It is also an opportunity to bless someone else.
This Sunday we are blessed to have a guest speaker joining us to share about the workings of the Westman Women’s Shelter. We will hear about the shelter, its operations, and the important work they do in the community.
Our Outreach Committee has been a long-time supporter of the Women’s Shelter, and we look forward to hearing from them about the gifts that they share in our community.
A little kindness, a little generosity, and a willingness to share can go a long way.
After all, isn’t that what being a good neighbour, and living our faith, is all about?
