Faith, Life & Laughter

This Sunday at St. Paul’s, we’re bringing together three wonderful things: faith, laughter, and community. Add muffins to the mix, and it sounds like the kind of morning worth getting out of bed for.

Before worship, join us for coffee & muffins — because few things bring people together better than coffee, conversation, and baked goods balanced carefully on napkins.

Faith is deeply sacred, but that doesn’t mean church has to feel solemn every moment of the morning. There is room in worship for smiles, chuckles, and even the occasional groan-worthy joke. As we celebrate Holy Humor Sunday — a reminder that joy and laughter are gifts from God too.

The Bible itself is full of surprising moments where expectations are turned upside down, ordinary people are called into extraordinary situations, and joy breaks through when it’s least expected. Somewhere along the way, the disciples probably never imagined they would inspire centuries of potluck suppers, committee meetings, and coffee-hour conversations.

So come prepared to laugh a little. There may even be a few questionable church jokes shared from the front. Consider yourself warned. I offer my apologies in advance.

For example:

Why did the muffin go to church?
Because it wanted to become a “holy bran” muffin.

Alongside the laughter, we will also take time to recognize the Moose Hide Campaign — a grassroots movement committed to ending violence against women and children while promoting reconciliation, healing, and respect across Canada.

The Moose Hide pin may be small, but the message it carries is powerful. It reminds us that faith is not only about what happens inside the church walls, but also about how we care for one another in our daily lives. We are called to stand together, to speak against violence, and to build communities rooted in compassion, dignity, and love.

Whether you come for worship, the laughter, the meaningful conversations, or simply to investigate whether there will be chocolate chip muffins, you are warmly welcome.

There is always room at the table, plenty of grace to share, and hopefully a few extra muffins for those who arrive early.

Join us this Sunday for a morning filled with faith, laughter, fellowship, and community. We look forward to sharing it with you.
