Office Buzz 🐝

My great niece told me the other day that she only had a few days of school left and how she was looking forward to summer holidays and as things are starting to wind down here at the church office and I am getting ready for my summer holidays, I find myself looking forward to not having a set schedule and just being able to go with the flow and see where the days take me.

There is something magical about summer that encourages us to ease our pace and savor the moment. The days stretch longer, the evenings linger with golden light, and the usual rush of daily life seems to soften. Summer invites us to trade schedules for spontaneity and productivity for simple pleasures.

The lazy days of summer aren’t really about doing nothingβ€”they’re about doing less and enjoying more.

One of summer’s greatest gifts is the luxury of a slow start. Instead of rushing out the door, mornings can begin with a cup of coffee on the porch, the sound of birds in the distance, and sunlight filtering through the trees. There is no need to watch the clock so closely when the day feels endless.

These quiet moments often become the most memorable. A good book, a gentle breeze, and a comfortable chair can turn an ordinary morning into a small escape.

In a world filled with calendars and notifications, summer afternoons offer a rare opportunity: free time without a purpose. There is freedom in not knowing exactly how the day will unfold.

Maybe it means taking a nap in a hammock, floating in a pool, exploring a nearby trail, or simply sitting outside and watching the world go by. The beauty of a lazy summer day lies in its lack of urgency.

When we stop trying to fill every moment, we often discover that the most rewarding experiences happen naturally.
