Wonder in Every Season

“Everywhere We Look, Creation Invites Us to Be Amazed”

The past few weeks have been full in all the best ways. I was blessed to participate as we (ministry and Prairie to Pine regional reps) gathered for our Annual Meeting, taking time to reflect on where we have been and where God may be leading us next. I am always reminded that there is something sacred about pausing together as a community to celebrate ministry, share hopes, and remember that the church is not simply a building or a budget—it is people, connected by faith and purpose.

I also had the privilege of spending time as a chaplain with the young adults and youth. Their questions, laughter, honesty, and energy reminded me that God is continually at work in new generations. Sometimes the deepest wisdom comes from the youngest voices. Their curiosity about the world and their openness to wonder are gifts for all of us.

I am currently on vacation in Newfoundland  and while standing along the rugged coastline, watching waves crash against ancient rocks, I was reminded of both the power and persistence of creation. Water, over countless years, shapes stone. It is a quiet testimony to patience and transformation.

I can’t forget the icebergs—towering, beautiful, and humbling. Some of these frozen giants began forming thousands of years ago, long before any of us walked this earth. To stand before them is to feel both very small and deeply connected to something much larger.

From conversations with young people in our church to gazing at icebergs that have journeyed through centuries, I found myself filled with awe. God’s creation continues to tell a story of wonder, resilience, and grace.

Sometimes we encounter God in meeting rooms and fellowship halls. Sometimes we encounter God in the laughter of youth. And sometimes we encounter God in the crashing waves and ancient ice of Newfoundland.

Everywhere we look, creation invites us to be amazed.
